SD&T Strategic Planning and Team-Building Retreat

Tallahassee -- SD&T staff held a productive and uplifting, planning-and-team-building session October 27-30, 2014. The event produced useful ideas and next steps to support the learning needs of juvenile justice professionals.

DJJ Chief of Staff Fred Schuknecht joined the team for the kickoff breakfast at DJJ headquarters, in Tallahassee. Immediately afterward was the first among the several highlights from the four-day session:  a series of informative presentations from the offices of Residential, Probation, Prevention, Detention, and Research and Planning. Assistant secretaries Laura Moneyham and Tim Niermann, and senior program area staff Yvonne Woodard, Maureen Honan and Sherry Jackson provided important perspectives and information that were useful as the team considered near-term and future projects.

During the last two days of the session, Elaine Bryant, PhD., led SD&T staff in team-building exercises at the FSU Reservation and strategic planning at Wakulla Springs. The retreat strengthened individuals' understanding of the team’s goals and presented an important opportunity for the full group to strategize and prioritize upcoming projects. Also, it enabled SD&T members to get to know one another’s skills and expertise, enhancing collaboration within the team.

The retreat was a delightful experience that made the staff's hard work even more rewarding. Click here to see an Adobe Voice slideshow from the retreat.
