The Palmetto Youth Academy is a high-risk program that provides substance abuse treatment services for 48 youth who have a primary diagnosis of substance abuse and/or co-occurring mental health disorder. The facility uses evidence-based programs and practices such as Thinking For Change [T4C], Living In Balance, etc. to encourage positive, self-motivated change in each youth through individual, group, and family counseling services. Psychotherapeutic groups are provided seven (7) days per week by qualified substance abuse professionals, who are supervised by a licensed mental health professional. Family services are offered through family counseling, visitation, education, treatment teams, and special family days conducted quarterly. Clothing and uniforms are provided by the program. The anticipated average length of stay is between 9–12 months. Health and wellness services are provided through the in-house medical department.

Palmetto Youth Academy (school number 412063) is a Type 2 program offering English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading. Career and technical opportunities include Business Education courses.

Education services are provided by G4S through a contract with the Manatee County School District.
