The Orange Youth Academy (OYA) is a non-secure program for males, ages 14 to 21, that provides 25 beds specifically for Mental Health Overlay Services (MHOS).

The Orange Youth Academy Substance Abuse (OYASA) program also is serves males, ages 14 to 21, in a non-secure environment, providing 16 beds specifically for Substance Abuse Overlay Services (SAOS).

Both aspects of this program offer evidence-based treatment practices that incorporate the principles of restorative justice and behavioral health.  The goal of the program is to provide an environment that offers vast opportunities for personal growth and fosters feelings of safety and well-being. Youth participate in daily psychotherapeutic services, seven days per week, including group and individual counseling and cognitive skills training sessions, as well as educational and recreational services.

Family involvement is an integral component and is achieved through family counseling, visitation, and family day events. Clothing and uniforms are provided by the program.

The anticipated average length of stay depends on the youth's pace of success in completing the individualized treatment plan and goals.

Orange Youth Academy/Orange Youth Academy Substance Abuse is a Type 2 program offering English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading and one elective course.

Education services are provided by the Orange County School District.
