The Hastings Youth Academy is a moderate-risk program for 91 males, ages 13 to 19, who require intensive interventions. The program provides comprehensive mental health treatment services for youth diagnosed with a major mental disorder and who demonstrate very serious to severe mental health and substance abuse disorders. The anticipated average length of stay is 7-10 months. The Hastings Youth Academy uses a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach and employs evidence-based programs within a therapeutic community setting. Youth receive therapeutic services seven (7) days per week that includes individual, family and group counseling, cognitive skills training, and relapse prevention. Mental health and substance abuse professionals work under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. A licensed psychiatrist provides weekly psychiatric services including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and 24-hour, seven days a week emergency consultation. Youth eligible for the program must have a DSM-IV TR mental health disorder and serious to severe symptoms of emotional disturbance with a GAF score between 30 and 50 or a DSM-IV Axis I or Axis II mental health disorder with severe symptoms of mental disorder and impairment in social, emotional or adaptive functioning. The program does not treat sex offenders. Uniforms and clothing are provided by the program.

Hastings Comprehensive Mental Health Treatment Program (school number 550421) is a Type 2 program offering English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Reading. 

Career and technical opportunities include Business Education courses. Education services are provided by G4S through a contract with the St. Johns County School District.
