The Hastings Comprehensive Mental Health Treatment Program is a non-secure program for males, ages 13 to 19, who require intensive interventions. The program provides comprehensive mental health treatment services for youth diagnosed with a major mental disorder and who demonstrate very serious to severe mental health disorders.
Co-located on site, the Hastings Substance Abuse Program serves those youth with substance abuse disorders.
Both programs use a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach and employ evidence-based programs within a therapeutic community setting. Youth receive therapeutic services 7 days per week that include individual, family and group counseling, cognitive skills training, and relapse prevention. Mental health and substance abuse professionals work under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. A licensed psychiatrist provides weekly psychiatric services including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and 24-hour, seven days a week emergency consultation.
Youth eligible for the program must have a DSM-IV TR mental health disorder and serious to severe symptoms of emotional disturbance with a GAF score between 30 and 50 or a DSM-IV Axis I or Axis II mental health disorder with severe symptoms of mental disorder and impairment in social, emotional or adaptive functioning. The program does not treat sex offenders.
The anticipated average length of stay depends on the youth's pace of success in completing the individualized treatment plan and goals.
