Bristol Youth Academy is a moderate-risk program for males, ages 14 to 18, that uses a psycho-educational cognitive behavioral model. The program uses a holistic wellness approach that builds on the assets of the youth and develops individual strengths. The program emphasizes the restoration of good relationships between the youth and his view of himself, those who support him, his family, and the community.
The program is divided into five distinct phases and the youth must complete all phases in order to graduate from the program. Bristol Youth Academy provides behavioral health overlay services (BHOS), psycho-educational groups, anger management, victim awareness, social skills, moral development, and gang intervention. The program also provides individualized mental health and substance abuse services. The anticipated average length of stay is 6 to 9 months.
