The Spring Lake Youth Academy is a 30-bed facility for low-risk male juvenile offenders, between the ages of 15-18, with mental health disorders and related maladaptive behaviors. The philosophy of treatment encompasses program goals based upon the youth’s ability to demonstrate an understanding and identify alternatives to delinquent patterns of thinking, understand the impact of crime on victims and the community, and identify a plan for success. The program provides Behavioral Health Overlay Services (BHOS), as well as group and individual counseling. In addition, youth receive clinical and case management services, individual, family and group therapeutic interventions, treatment team development, behavior management, human growth and development, life skills, and specialized community re-entry preparedness. Spring Lake Youth Academy is committed to the balanced approach of restorative justice that emphasizes accountability, competency development, and public safety. Clothing and uniforms are provided by the program. The anticipated average length of stay is between 60-90 days.
