Okaloosa Youth Academy is a moderate-risk program for boys, which includes supervised community contact. Behavioral Health Overlay Services (BHOS) are provided for youth with outpatient-level mental health and substance abuse counseling. Educational services are provided by the Okaloosa County School District. Vocational training consists of masonry, electronics technician, carpentry and horticulture. The program is a certified GED® testing center; youth have the option of earning a GED® or high school diploma. Co-located on the Okaloosa Youth Academy campus, which has 100 single-occupancy rooms, is the Sex Offender Treatment Program (below). The average length of stay is 6 to 9 months. Uniforms are provided.

Okaloosa Youth Academy (school number 469812) is a Type 3 program offering English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and one elective course. The elective course is typically used to provide additional reading assistance to needy students or vocational training.

 

Education and vocational services are provided through the Okaloosa County School District. Vocational opportunities include: Masonry Project, Habitat for Humanity, Food Handlers and Ready to Work.

 

This program serves as a GED test site.

From Tallahassee, travel I- 10 West to Crestview. Exit onto HWY 85 (exit 12) south to FT Walton Beach. Approximately 3.5 miles turn left onto Little Silver Road. Follow Little Silver road past the Correctional facility (3.5 miles). Turn Left (North) onto Straightline Road.
