New Beginnings Youth Academy is a 28-bed, moderate-risk residential program provider with Behavioral Health Overlay Services (BHOS), designated for adolescent females who meet specific admission criteria based upon their criminal history and prior involvement with substance abuse. The program utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and it seeks to create a balance in community safety, accountability, and skill development. Youth are taught to take responsibility for their actions, behaviors, and decisions and to encourage a sense of responsibility to society and to the victims of their crimes. The program's therapeutic community encourages each youth to believe in her ability to make positive choices, to see that the control of her behavior resides within, and to live cooperatively, exhibiting equal respect and understanding. Various treatment modalities are offered in mental health treatment services, substance abuse treatment services, education and vocational services and recreational services. This therapeutic community emphasizes gender specific programming in the areas of social and life skills, academics, crisis and grief counseling, health education, self-esteem and anger-management techniques. The average length of stay in the program is 6 to 12 months.

New Beginnings Youth Academy (school number 539234) is a Type 1 program offering English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and one elective course. The elective course is typically used to provide additional reading assistance to needy students or vocational training.

Education and vocational services are provided through the Polk County School District.
