News
An in-depth level of training for those who will be working directly with sexually exploited youth and their supervisors. Attendees must have a basic understanding of commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). This training addresses youth development, stages of change and teaches basic skills in motivational interviewing and trauma informed care, ending with the importance of addressing vicarious trauma and self-care. The goal is to ensure that a person-centered approach is employed when working with commercially sexually exploited youth.
Objectives:
Review Stages of Change model and techniques of Motivational Interviewing
Discuss trauma triggers and advanced safety planning
Suggest how to manage vicarious trauma and practice self-care.
Incorporate trauma-informed care and person-centered approaches into interactions with survivors
Learn more about how trauma impacts youth brain development
