DJJ and DCF Present “Our Children, Our Future”

For immediate release:

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS -- The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) are teaming up with hundreds of volunteers from community organizations to hold “Our Children, Our Future – Faith and Community Symposium.”

The two-day event will bring together volunteers from across the state to share ideas and best practices of integrating faith-based organizations into our work to help at-risk children, youth and families. It will also connect resources, raise awareness of issues impacting these families and provide training to programs that serve in the community.

The departments will be hosting workshops on empowering parents, gang prevention, foster care recruitment, providing shelter and food to families in need, domestic violence, serving the homeless, mentoring, and the importance of education in a child’s life.

DJJ Deputy Secretary Robert L. Woody and DCF Secretary David Wilkins will be attending the conference.
