PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Florida Environmental Institute is a structured residential program for male offenders that provides social and life skills, and on-site educational classes in a wilderness setting. The youth receive substance abuse treatment through Behavioral Health Overlay Services (BHOS), behavioral modification, mental health and vocational training, as well as faith-based and community interaction, and personal fitness training. Precluded from admission to this program are youth with severe medical or mental health conditions, a history of arson, or sex offenses. Upon completion of this program, offenders transition to the offender's home circuit with conditional release programs. Offenders can participate in Job Corp placement upon release. The average length of stay is 6 to 9 months. Clothing is provided.

Directions to Program

From Lake Placid, proceed south on US Highway 27 approximately 15 miles to CR 70. Proceed past CR 70 and continue south for 10 miles. At intersection of US Hwy 27 and CR 731 turn right (west). Proceed 9.9 miles and look for a sign and archway over the gated entrance to the program. Enter on the left.
