PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The two RAM-C (Residential Alternative for the Mentally Challenged) programs serve offenders with Developmental Disabilities. The average length of stay is between 9 to 12 months. The eligibility criterion requires a diagnosis of mild to moderate mental retardation with a documented IQ of 40-71. RAM-C maintains self-contained educational classrooms with teachers certified in Exceptional Student Education. A behavior management system specially designed for this population incorporates functional analysis and a high reinforcement schedule. The program emphasizes vocational training, particularly in the areas of culinary arts and automotive skills. It also provides training in social skill development, anger management, and life skills. RAM-C provides uniforms. The RAM-C cottages are located on the Greenville Hills Academy campus but are across the street from the other cottages.
