PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Graceville Vocational Youth Center is a 36
bed, 6-9 month moderate risk program for boys ages 16-18 who
possess a GED, High School Diploma or a TABE score of 10th
grade or higher. Youth placed in the program will be
provided vocational training in construction technology and
welding. These courses are accredited through the
National Center for Construction Education and Research
(NCCER). Youth will participate in various projects
both on and off-campus which include Adopt a Highway and DOT
work projects. The program is licensed by the
Commission for Independent Education and the youth will
receive a diploma in construction technology or welding.
Upon completion of the program, the youth has attained
employability skills, has work experience, and has develop a
career portfolio demonstrating all these skills and
experiences. An appointment is established with a
counselor at the One Stop Career Center in the youth's
community, at which time his is able to share the portfolio
and determine appropriate placement. The program also
provides substance abuse treatment with 12 beds designated
RSAT.
