PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Ft. Walton Adolescent Substance Abuse
Program (A.S.A.P.) is a licensed residential substance abuse
treatment program. This is a moderate risk juvenile justice
facility for males, ages 14-18. A.S.A.P. provides intensive
substance abuse treatment in conjunction with behavioral
modification strategies to enable youth to maintain a
drug-free lifestyle and to become productive members of
their community. The program utilizes a therapeutic
community model with a cognitive-behavioral foundation
theory designed to meet individualized treatment needs.
Educational services are provided by the Okaloosa County
School District. A masonry vocational program is available
and the program is a certified GED testing center; youth
have the option of earning a GED and/or high school diploma.
Youth have access to an indoor gymnasium, an outdoor
basketball court and track, and a low R.O.P.E.S. course. The
program provides uniforms. A.S.A.P. cannot accept sex
offenders, as youth are housed 2 per room. The average
length of stay is 6 to 12 months.
