PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Okaloosa Youth Development Center is a
High-Risk program that offers Mental Health Overlay Services
(MHOS) to youth with moderate to serious mental disorders
and who may have a co-occurring substance-related disorder.
These services are provided by clinical mental health staff.
Focus is also placed on security issues relevant to the
youth's legal status by providing for the care, safety and
protection of youth in an environment that fosters healthy
social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.
Youth are also provided a quality education and vocational
opportunities through the Okaloosa County School District.
Vocational opportunities include: Masonry, Electronics
Technician, Carpentry and Horticulture. OYDC serves youth
ranging from 13 to 18 years of age. The average length of
stay is 9 to 12 months. Clothing and hygiene items are provided
by the program.
